Abstract
The Lingnan School of Painting was founded in the late Qing Dynasty and has a history of over 120 years. Its emergence is linked to the corruption and backwardness of the Qing government, and it was driven by artists such as Gao Jianfu, Gao Qifeng, and Chen Shuren who sought to innovate traditional Chinese painting. The Lingnan School's appearance and continued existence are closely tied to its philosophy of "integrating Chinese and Western, blending ancient and modern." This school emphasizes the inner spirit of painting rather than merely imitating traditional forms. Artists from the Lingnan School, such as Gao Jianfu, Gao Qifeng, and Zhao Shao'ang, expressed their concern for social realities and their noble pursuit of art through their works, and promoted Chinese art and culture internationally. The inheritance and development of the Lingnan School rely not only on the efforts and perseverance of the predecessors but also on the promotion by new generations of disciples, allowing it to continue to thrive.
